Kaliurang (29/09)- Leadership management of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) in 2023 has entered its second year within the 2022-2026 period. In this second year, FK UII held a Work Coordination Meeting (Rakorja) agenda on Thursday, September 28 2023 at Eastparc Hotel, Yogyakarta with the theme: "Accelerating Resources Towards Excellent Teaching Medical Faculty".

This year's FK UII Coordination Meeting event was attended by the UII Chancellor, Dean, Deputy Dean, Head and Secretary of Departments, Head and Secretary of Study Programs, Heads of Departments, Heads of Study Units/Centers, Heads of Divisions, and lecturers within FK UII, as well as presenting keynote speaker namely Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed, Ph.D (Chancellor of Gadjah Mada University) with the theme: "Accelerating resources to improve responsiveness medical education institutions to be globally competitive.”

In his speech, the Dean of FK UII, Dr. Dr. Isnatin Miladiyah, M.Kes, said that medical institutions are currently facing enormous challenges. “This coordination meeting is an opportunity for us to plan what we will do over the next year. Currently the challenges for medical institutions are extraordinary, with the enactment of Health Law no. 17 of 2023. Of course there are many regulations that will have implications for medical study programs," said Dr. Isnatin.

Dr. Isnatin explained that another challenge for medical institutions is changes in regulations regarding promotions to functional lecturer positions and the need to strengthen the existence of FK UII among the many medical study programs in Indonesia. "By September 2023 there will have been 16 new medical study programs issued permits, previously there were 92 FKs, and by the end of 2023 it is estimated that there will be an additional 25 medical study programs," Dr. Isnatin added.

Dr. Isnatin emphasized and invited all managerial levels at FK UII to align their perceptions and actions in order to lead the organization at every level of leadership as leaders who have a visionary view of the future. "We can't walk in place, we might feel like we're running, but other institutions are running faster, so like it or not we have to get up immediately. As someone who is given the mandate to lead this organization, the role as a lecturer and as a leader must have a visionary view of the future, we can develop our institution together, FK UII is our common home, whether it is good or bad will depend on us. "Hopefully in forums like this, we can align our perceptions and align our steps forward," concluded Dr. Isnatin.

Meanwhile, in his speech, the Chancellor of UII, Prof. Fathul Wahid conveyed his perspective and hopes to FK UII who was quite senior, namely 22 years old. That competition is getting tougher and needs to be responded to well. The challenge is how FK UII can still stand out from the crowd. "This is homework (homework, ed.) with all of us, we have documented superior accreditation, this needs to be appreciated and grateful, how can we maintain and improve this excellence," said Prof Fathul Wahid.

Prof. Fathul Wahid added that regarding institutional strengthening or enlargement, the proposal to open a Masters in Health will already be submitted to the Senate at the university level. Currently, an annex building has just been built to increase capacity with the hope that by March 2024 it can be used for academic activities. Once that is finished, we must start building the new FK UII building, this has been included in the minutes of the meeting with the old Foundation management, so it will be carried out immediately.

Meanwhile, Prof. Fathul Wahid highlighted several major homework assignments at FK UII which were red report cards from the Internal Quality Audit (AMI), including (1) the proportion of lecturers with academic positions as Associate Professor and Professor, (2) increasing the educational level of lecturers to doctoral level, and (3) ) productivity and quality of academic work. "The proportion of lecturers with academic positions as Associate Professor and Professor, this seems to be a luxury item at FK and also by increasing the educational level of lecturers to doctoral level, this portion also needs to be increased. Productivity and quality of academic work, this is also still red on the report card, in the latest AMI results. Apart from that, it seems that international journals at FK also need to be increased. I wonder how, is there a need for a writing camp? opportunistic costs"It can be compensated, this needs to be found in the right way," explained Prof. Fathul Wahid.
