Disease Development Continues to Change, New UII Doctors Always Improve Their Competence

Kaliurang (11/10)- Medical Faculty (FK) Professional Doctoral Study Program Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) held the inauguration and oath-taking of new doctors for the period October 2023. A total of 31 new doctors consisting of 10 men and 21 women took part in the procession, with 8 people from the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province, 8 Central Java, 7 West Java. people, East Java 3 people, Banten 1 person, Bengkulu 1 person, West Nusa Tenggara 1 person, Riau 1 person, and North Sumatra 1 person. The inauguration ceremony took place solemnly in the Prof. Auditorium. KH. Abdul Kahar Mudzakir on Wednesday (11/10) offline. With this inauguration, the number of doctors graduating from UII has increased to 2.240 doctors who are ready to serve in all regions in Indonesia.

UII Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jaka Nugraha, S.Si, M.Si in his speech said that health is still a major problem in Indonesia, starting from non-communicable diseases which are increasing in number, such as DM, hypertension, heart disease, stroke and so on. According to research data, these diseases are the biggest cause of death, stroke in Indonesia is the biggest cause of death, namely 19.42%.

In several areas, health problems still occur, especially inequality in health facilities. This requires attention, especially for new doctors. "I advise that society's demands and the development of the disease continue to change, so the only way is to continually improve competence," said Prof. Jaka Nugraha.

Apart from that, Prof. Jaka Nugraha also reminded that the doctor's oath should not only be spoken, but must be internalized into behavior, as an anchor, so that it does not dissolve into a fairly liberal world environment, where those who are strong will pounce on the weak, including in the world of health. The doctor has a mission of humanity and service, as reflected in the doctor's oath.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FK UII, Dr. Dr. Isnatin Miladiyah, M. Kes. congratulated 31 new doctors for completing the Medical Professional Program Student Competency Examination (UKMPPD) with one shot (one test, ed).

“By being appointed as a doctor, of course there are new responsibilities. The brothers and sisters will face and go through a new journey in life. "After this, you must take part in intensive care, which is a mandatory placement program from the government," said Dr. Isnatin. He also reminded that in the intensive program, new doctors will undergo a process of proficiency and independence in order to hone the competencies obtained during education in undergraduate and professional programs.

Furthermore, he advised new doctors to be more adaptive and responsive to existing changes. Considering that the graduation period for new doctors is close to the passing of Health Law no. 17 of 2023 in August 2023. There are several aspects that will be improved, including changing the focus from treatment to prevention, facilitating access to health services, simplifying the health licensing process including lifetime STR (Registration Certificate, ed), integrating health information systems, to opening of practice for foreign doctor graduates and foreign national doctors.

On the same occasion, the Chair of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) DIY Region, represented by the Chair of Organizational Affairs, dr. Betty Juliastuty Soeharsono, M.Sc, Sp.An conveyed a message to new doctors to always carry out their duties as professional, trustworthy doctors, by applying medical ethics according to applicable professional standards, and implementing the Hippocratic Oath. "The medical profession is a noble profession, carry it out and carry out the duties of a doctor as a professional, trustworthy doctor by applying medical ethics in accordance with applicable professional standards and implementing the Hippocratic Oath. "We always remind you to uphold the principles and values ​​of the doctor's oath, the Indonesian medical code of ethics, social norms and Indonesian culture," he said.
