FK UII sent four delegates to the 12th Umrah Camp for Medical Students in Medina and Mecca

Participant Camp paid a visit to the largest Al-Qur'an manuscript printing press in the world

Medina (13/1) – Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) on Thursday, January 12 sent four delegates to attend the 12th Umrah Camp for Medical Students in Medina and Mecca as representatives of delegations from all over Indonesia. The FK UII delegation consisted of Chairun Nisa' Nur'aini, Aufanida Zakia, Erico Rizqi Yakson, Muhadzib Ashimul Haq. There was a delegation from Hamka University on behalf of Khusnul Khotimah so that the total number of delegates from Indonesia was 5 people. This event is organized by The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) / Islamic Medical Association in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (IMAKSA) and in collaboration with FIMA (Federation of Islamic Medical Associations). This event lasts for five days in two locations, namely January 13-15 2023 held in Medina and January 16-17 2023 in Mecca.

World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) was founded in 1392 H / 1972 AD, was the first international organization to gather and concentrate on the development of the young Muslim generation, registered at the United Nations (UN) as an international non-governmental organization (International Non-Government Organizations/INGO) that are independent and support the work of Islamic and youth organizations in developing organizations and protecting the community.

FIMA is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization and registered body of 23 IMAs and 30 member associations worldwide. FIMA represents around 50.000 Muslim medical and health professionals. FIMA's mission is to provide a platform for Muslim doctors around the world in the fields of education and medical ethics, humanitarian assistance and medical cooperation International Medical Association (IMA) each country. The purpose of the event is to foster brotherhood among fellow Muslim students from various Islamic Medical Associations (IMA) and countries, increase mutual understanding and cooperation, to exchange information and experiences, to provide leadership training and organizational skills, to strengthen student involvement in IMA activities, and to promote communication and networking between IMA student branches and other countries.

12th Umroh Camp for Medical Students is an annual gathering of medical students from around the world. Several countries participated in this camp, namely: Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Bangladesh, Palestine, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Somaliland, Jordan, Malawi, UK and Pakistan. This event is expected to be a means of friendship between IMAs and a place for self-development in the aspect of exploring and tracing the history of the journey of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The activities carried out during the UMROH CAMP in general included discussions between members of delegations between countries, games, visits to centers of Islamic studies in the two holy cities, and the climax was the Umrah pilgrimage.

The participants' activities in Medina began with worship at the Prophet's Mosque, then made visits to historic sites in the Medina area including the Qiblatain mosque, the Khandaq mosque, the Uhud battle area, the old Hijaz station, the Al-Anbariyah mosque, a relic of the Ottoman caliphate, The International Fair and Museum of the Prophet's Biography and Islamic Civilization (a museum with the theme of the biography of the Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam), the largest printing of the Al-Qur'an manuscripts in the World named Mujamma' al-Mālik Fahd lithibā'ati al-Mushaf asy-Syarīf, Dar Al Madinah Museum namely a museum on the history of the city of Medina, and the Quba mosque is the first mosque built by Rasulullah SAW.

Meanwhile, the activities of the participants in Mecca were carrying out the Umrah pilgrimage. Participants in berihram take the intention of Bir 'Ali on the way to Mecca. Participants are divided into several groups according to the country, and accompanied by 1-2 committees in each group to guide the implementation of Umrah. After the umroh is complete, other activities include visiting historical sites including the Jabal Nur Museum (the place where the first revelation was revealed), Muzdalifah where pilgrims pick up pebbles to throw the Jumrah, Mina, and Arafah.

The last activity of the participants on Camp is Social Programs namely the exposure of the material by lecture related to how a doctor preaches in society. Litterature say, "We choose a medical doctor, then you choose a preacher”. To be able to spread the religion of Allah, then we need knowledge.
