basic-life-support-fk-uiiThe Student Medical Assistance Team (TBMM) as a semi-autonomous body at the UII Faculty of Medicine held Basic Education and Training (DIKLATSAR) for one month (December 2008) located around the UII integrated campus. This is intended to improve the skills and abilities of TBMM members in handling emergencies in daily life and in disaster areas.

Isnalisa as the implementing coordinator of TBMM explained that the DIKLATSAR that was held was not only aimed at increasing the skills and abilities of members but also for recruiting new members. This was proven by the enthusiasm of the participants, from the initial number required of 50 people, 193 participants registered and when DIKLATSAR was held, 130 students were active.

dr. R. Agit Seno, one of the instructors in this activity explained the need for students to be familiar with emergency materials, Basic Life Support (BLS), and the use of natural resources such as bamboo, wood, rope to be used as tools to help patients in mountainous areas, ravines, inland areas and in remote areas. disaster area.

Basic Life Support skills are important because they teach basic techniques for saving victims from various everyday accidents/accidents that are commonly encountered. Basic Life Support skills can be taught by anyone who masters them "correctly" to anyone, regardless of age or gender. Every adult should have BLS skills, even children can be taught according to their capacity. This is done because accidents are very rarely predictable and can happen to anyone unexpectedly.

Anis Permanasari, one of the participants reasoned that joining TBMM was to gain experience and apply the skills they had acquired while attending lectures and the medical skills they had acquired so far. The success or failure of TBMM participants who undergo Diklatsar will be based on an assessment consisting of Pretest, Posttest, activity and recommendations from their respective guides, so that the results of this activity are expected to produce members who are truly ready to become Candidates for the Student Medical Assistance Team ( TBMM) Faculty of Medicine UII Yogyakarta.
