Background : Adolescence is a very important period in one's development. The changes that occur at this time greatly affect a teenager in going through his teenage years. In young women, the age of puberty begins with menarche. Good knowledge about menstruation will help young women in dealing with it
the menarche.
Destination : To find out the relationship between knowledge about menstruation and the readiness of young women at puberty to face menarche.
Method : This research was conducted at SMPN 4 Pakem Sleman Yogyakarta using a cross sectional design. The sample for this research was all female students at SMPN 4 Pakem Sleman Yogyakarta who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria in May 2007. The number of samples in this study were 42 people. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire. The data analysis used in this research is chi square.
 
Results : The data were analyzed using the Chi Square Test with the result that there was a significant relationship between the knowledge of adolescents at puberty and their readiness to face menarche, where the value was 0,001 which when compared with α = 0,01, the P value <α.
Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between knowledge about menstruation and readiness to face menarche.
