FK UII Receives Visits from SMAN 2 Ciamis and SD BIAS

Kaliurang (UII News) – UII Faculty of Medicine is one of the 5 medical faculties in Indonesia which are accredited A and is the youngest medical faculty to obtain A accreditation at the age of 11 since its establishment in 2001, in 2014 there were 3000 applicants and 147 were accepted so that the ratio of applicants interested in registering at FK UI is 20 : 1, almost the same as applicants at the favorite State Medical Faculty in Indonesia.

This was revealed by the Dean of FK UII, dr. Linda Rosita, M.Kes, Sp.PK while giving her remarks at the reception of guests from SMA N 2 Ciamis, on Friday, October 24 2014 in the Auditorium Room Lt.1, Faculty of Medicine, UII, Jl. Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman, Yogyakarta, as many as 97 students and 7 accompanying teachers led by Hj. Wiwik H, S.Pd, M.Pd representative from SMA N 2 Ciamis

According to the doctor, Linda said that SMA N 2 Ciamis was not wrong in choosing to visit FK UII in a series of study tours because SMA N 2 Ciamis was one of the Favorite High Schools.

"So students who are accepted as UII medical students are students who have passed a strict selection according to UII standards and most come from favorite schools in their respective regions, possibly SMA N 2 Ciamis," he explained.

Meanwhile, as the head of the UII FK Promotion Team, dr. Mafthuhah Nur Betty, MPH explained that during the visit to FK UII it appeared that the students of SMA N 2 Ciamis were very interested in the explanation from FK UII.

"This is evidenced by the great curiosity about the world of medicine, especially Medical Education at FK UII, so that three questioners were chosen who were then given gifts in the form of promotional doll souvenirs for FK UII," he explained.

In the afternoon, at. 14.00 WIB FK UII received another visit, this time not from a high school (SMA) but from an elementary school, namely SD BIAS Yogyakarta, which consisted of 60 students and 4 supervising teachers who visited the Clinical Pantology Laboratory, FK UII's integrated laboratory.

As a Clinical Pathology laboratory assistant at FK UII, Akhsan explained that the BIAS Elementary School students who visited were grades 1 and 2 so that the material explained in the laboratory was very simple and easy to understand and implement. The material given to elementary school students was about blood cells. and continued with the practice of using a microscope and sphygmomanometer.

"BIAS Elementary School students were very interested in microscopes and tensimaters so they scrambled to use a microscope and also scrambled to take a blood pressure test. At the end of the event, the accompanying teachers expressed their pleasure and gratitude for being able to visit FK UII," said Ahsan. Wibowo
