Monbukagakusho Scholarship, Japan

Here we convey information on Japanese Government scholarships (Monbukagakusho), so that it can be utilized as well as possible, especially for PTN/PTS lecturers who meet the specified qualifications.

Requirements

1. Age under 35 years (both for Masters and Masters);
2. Participants in the master's program must have completed their bachelor's degree. Doctoral program participants must have completed their Masters;
3. Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy;
4. Applicants must be able to master English so they can write a thesis plan and express their opinion during the interview;

 
5. Applicants are asked to contact a professor at a state university in Japan as a supervisor according to their respective fields of study. The field of study must still be in the same field as the previous scientific discipline;
6. Applicants are not allowed husband and wife to apply at the same time, it must be one. After one has finished, the other one can take part in this scholarship;
7. For those who have previously received a Monbukagakusho scholarship and wish to apply again, they must have been in Indonesia for 3 years before they can join this program, as long as they are under 35 years old at the time of departure;
8. Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese because the language of instruction in Japanese universities is Japanese.
9. Especially for female applicants, may not be pregnant at the time of application and during the scholarship period.

Facilities obtained

1. The length of the Research Student period is 2 years if you leave in April, 1 1/2 years if you leave in October. The study period can be extended if participants are allowed to enter the master's or doctoral program. Participants are allowed to enter the master's program during the Research Student period. As for the doctoral program, participants must obtain permission in the first year of their Research Student period.
2. Scholarships are awarded in full;
3. Transportation costs from Soekarno Hatta airport to Japan airport (go and return);
4. Boarding fees;
5. Health insurance;
6. One student and one professor supervisor;
7. Free of charge for entrance exams, matriculation, and tuition fees;
8. An arrival allowance of 25.000 yen upon arrival at a Japanese airport. The scholarship amount is 184.000 yen per month.

How to register

For applicants with status as PTN/PTS lecturers, applications are submitted by the Head of the Higher Education Institution (with a letter of introduction/approval from the head of the college) addressed to the Director of Educational Development for Education Personnel and Higher Education Personnel, Directorate General of Higher Education, Jalan Pintu Satu Senayan, Jakarta, with attach:

1. Application form Monbukagakusho;
2. Copy of diploma and transcript in English/Japanese;
3. Letter of recommendation from the university of origin (by filling in the form provided);
4. Letter of Acceptance (L/A) from supervising professor at a public university in Japan, form available. To obtain an L/A from a professor, applicants must send the professor a research proposal and grade transcript;

Please make 4 copies of all these documents, and all original documents written in English / Japanese must be submitted to the Japanese Embassy.

selection stage

1. Not all applicants are called for an interview;
2. Those who pass the pre-selection will be called upon to take the interview exam;
3. Those who pass the interview exam will be recommended to Monbukagakusho;
4. Phase I departure in early April;

Phase II departure in early October.

The scholarship program is opened every year. For 2004, registration opened in December and closed on April 21, 2004.
