Medicine (UII News) – In order to get an overview of healthcare systems in the UK that have implemented the NHS/National HealthSystem since 1948. So the UII Faculty of Medicine sent FK UII Lecturers to take part in the event.

This was conveyed by dr. Nur Aisyah Jamil, M.Sc (permanent lecturer and Deputy Head of KAK FK UII) after participating in the event which was held by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education at the Faculty of Health Science Coventry University United Kingdom on 14 November 2018 to 30 November 2018 which was attended by 23 lecturers from 19 educational institutions in Indonesia.

According to doctor Nur Aisyah Jamil, follow short courses. Short courses This aims to provide an overview of healthcare systems in the UK that have implemented the NHS/National HealthSystem since 1948.

"Hopefully there is best practice that can be taken in improving the system in the national health insurance (JKN) in Indonesia, which has only implemented JKN since 2014 and has a target universal coverage in 2019”, said the NAJ doctor.

It was further explained that England is a developed country which is one of the first to implement it Universal Health Coverage with the mechanism of health financing which almost all comes from taxes.

Health facilities and personnel belong to the government and health services are provided based on basic health needs and classless. British government enforced sin tax (very high taxes for purchases of goods that are not good for health such as cigarettes and liquor). This fund is also a component of NHS financing. With this policy, the government also claims that the prevalence of smokers has decreased to 15% of the total population. The NHS is a system that has high efficiency with good quality output and health outcomes compared to other countries that implement it social health insurance or other developed countries that apply free market.

Best practice another is the many agencies that play a role in the implementation of the NHS which ensures that the NHS runs in good quality. Also social support from the government as well charity such as guarantees of proper housing for children and women who are homeless, food bank, community transportation for dialysis patients as well disable, sales of used goods for charity health and others. Some of the problems faced in the NHS are the lack of family support in overcoming mental problems and loneliness in the elderly, long waiting periods for health services in non-urgent cases, and some dissatisfaction from health care providers.

“Besides learning about the NHS, short courses also provides guidance on scientific writing and publication. Short courses This also opens opportunities for research collaborations, publications and advanced schools, especially to Coventry University UK," said doctor Nur Aisyah Jamil, M.Sc as Deputy Head of KAK FK UII.
