According to Adhika, the idea of this activity was carried out on the basis that in handling surgical cases, some basic knowledge is needed, namely basic surgical skills and casting and splinting especially for the initial treatment of trauma. In cases of trauma, special examinations are also needed, namely focused assessment sonography in trauma (FAST) as one of the supporting examinations that must be carried out on secondary survey to find the source of the bleeding.

"Unfortunately, not all medical personnel in the field have mastered both supporting examinations and initial treatment, recognizing and providing appropriate initial treatment in emergency cases in the surgical field, both emergency traumas and injuries or not, it is mandatory for every health worker, especially doctors, so this seminar and workshop is being held by FK UII," said Adhika.

Adhika further said that this was still very much needed considering the high mortality rate in emergency surgical patients. Appropriate initial treatment is expected to reduce mortality in patients. For that, it is needed Update surgical science to provide outcome which is good for the patient.
