Healthy Body with Nutritious Food according to Islamic teachings

Maintaining a healthy body is very important for the continuation of life, especially in this era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Maintaining a healthy body condition is part of worship, both in terms of carrying out sunnah so as to avoid the spread of the corona virus and meeting the body's needs so that it is healthy and strong, not easily infected with viruses and strong in carrying out worship to Allah SWT. Allah loves the strong believer more than the weak believer. Apart from that, it is part of our expression of gratitude to God who has given us the gift of enjoying a healthy body so that we must protect and care for it.

Caring for the body to be healthy can be done in various ways, such as maintaining cleanliness, exercising, getting enough rest, not stressing, eating halal and thoyyib food. These methods have been recommended by Allah SWT, for example in terms of maintaining cleanliness, we have been ordered by Allah SWT in the Qur'an Surah Al Muddatsir: 4-5 “And clean your clothes and leave your sins”. The Prophet also gave an example that he used his face every morning to maintain cleanliness and health of the mouth and teeth. Sport is an activity that is recommended for health. Not being stressed is synonymous with a calm soul that is found in a calm heart, by remembering Allah the heart will be calm.

Maintain a healthy body by consuming halal food and drink thoyyib is an obligation for every Muslim. Halal food and thoyyib it means food and drink permitted for consumption according to Islam, according to the type of food and how to obtain it. Halal in the understanding of fuqaha is lawful in terms of substance and process. Called thoyyib also if the food is safe, good, and does not cause any problems if consumed, both short and long term and can provide benefits to the body. In accordance with the word of Allah SWT: "O people! Eat from (food) that is lawful and good that is found on earth…”(QS. Al Baqarah, 2:168). The provisions for eating and drinking enough are also explained in the Qur'an Surah Al A'raf verse 31: "…eat and drink and do not be extravagant. Verily, Allah does not like those who exaggerate...” means eating and drinking enough, explained not to overdo it.

Muslims may only consume halal and thoyyib (good) food. The food we must avoid is unclean food. The following are examples of unclean food in terms of substance, namely carrion or meat of animals slaughtered without mentioning the name of Allah SWT (except carcasses of fish and locusts), alcohol, pork, wild animals with fangs, animals that eat dirt, blood, and so on. Food that is unlawful in terms of its process, for example food obtained by illegal means such as corruption and others. So make sure whatever goes into our bodies is halal products and thoyyib.

Here are some examples of nutritious foods that are useful for the body contained in the Al-Quran;

  1. Nasi

God said, “…we grow grain” (QS. Abasa: 27). Rice is made from rice which is a grain produced from agriculture, besides rice there is wheat, corn, and others. In Indonesia, rice is the staple food.

  1. Meat and fish dishes
  2. Animal Meat

God said, “And He has created livestock (camels, cows, buffaloes, sheep, goats) for you; there is (fur) that warms and various benefits, and so on you eat " (QS. An Nahl: 5). In order for the body to be healthy, consume meat foods that are rich in animal protein. The fat contained in it contains iron, phosphorus, vitamins B, C, the liver is rich in vitamin A and iron.

  1. Fish meat

Allah said, And it is He, Allah who subjected the sea (to you), so that you may eat from it fresh meat (fish), ...” (QS. An Nahl: 14). Fish is the best food for humans. The surplus contains high levels of protein, fish oil is rich in vitamins A & B, fish is the best source of calcium.

  1. Vegetable and fruit
  2. Date

Allah said, "He grows for you with the rain water plants, olives, dates, grapes, and all kinds of fruit. Verily, in this there is a sign (of Allah's power) for people who think” (QS. An Nahl: 11). The nutritional value of dates includes; sugar is about 70-78% sugar that is easily absorbed and digested in the body, 2% protein, 2-3% fat, minerals, vitamins A, D, B1, B2. 100 grams of dates contain: 40-72 mlg phosphorus, 65-71 mlg calcium, 65 mlg magnesium, 2-4 mlg iron, 0,9 mlg sodium, 790 ml potassium, 65 ml sulfate, 283 mlg chlorine and 3 mlg chlorine . 1 kg of dates contains 3470 calories.

  1. Olives

God said, “And the tree that comes out of Thursina (olive tree), which produces oil, and eats food for those who eat it." (QS. Al Mu'minuun: 20). “And vineyards, and (We also bring out) olives and pomegranates that are alike and that are not”. (QS. Al An'am: 99). Olive fruit is a food that contains high fat, sufficient protein, lime salt, iron, phosphate, vitamins A, B, B complex. This fruit is taken for its oil, namely the best quality vegetable oil, high nutritional value, large calories, unsaturated fat.

  1. Bananas

Allah said, "Being between bidara trees that are not thorny and banana trees that are layered with fruit" (QS. Al Waqi'ah: 28-29). Bananas have high sugar content, high energy, minerals, calcium, phosphorus, copper, iron, vitamins C, B complex, A, D, and so on.

  1. Wine

Allah says; “agrapes and vegetables” (QS. Abasa: 28). contains high glucose, if the fermentation produces high calorie grape sugar.

  1. Vegetables

Vegetables are also mentioned in His words. The content of vegetables that contain many vitamins needed for the body.

  1. Animal Produced Milk

God said, “And verily in livestock there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink from what is in their stomachs (in the form of) milk...” (QS. An-Nahl: 66). Milk is a perfect food, pure, complete in content, white in color, sweet in taste and rich in essential amino acids, minerals such as phosphorus, copper, lime, iron, vitamins A, B, D.

In addition to these types of food, the body needs the element of water by drinking enough halal drinks. Let's live healthy by consuming nutritious food in order to maintain the gift of good health. Hope it is useful. (Fa)
