Kaliurang (UII) – Alhamdulillah, with Allah's permission, two teams from FKUII have passed as the top 10 scientific competitions at the national level, the 2016 Tanjungpura Medical Scientific Competition (TMSC 2016) held in Pontianak 2016.

This was conveyed by Zulfa Karomah, a student of FK UII 2016, at FK UII on Monday, 03 Robiul Akhir 2017/02 February 2017 when news came from Tanjungpura that UII Medicine was in the top 10.

According to Zulfa, TMSC 2016 is the first national level scientific competition held by Tanjungpura University. In this competition there are 3 branches of competition, namely, Scientific Writing (KTI), public education videos, and scientific posters.

After going through the judging, in each branch of the competition 10 best works were taken to be presented. The two teams from FKUII that made it through were the educational video team and scientific posters. The educational video team consisted of Wildan Jauhar Alafi, Larasati Cahyaning Edi, and Zulfa Karomah while the scientific poster team consisted of Ayu Indra Mashita, Urani Nur Hidayah, and Mohamad Rahman Suhendri. In addition to competition, the TMSC 2016 event also presented a national seminar which discussed the controversy over immunization and counterfeit vaccines.

"The struggle to enter the final was not easy, we had to stay up until midnight to compile the work despite the busy lecture activities. Qadarullah, on this occasion we have not been able to bring awards, but Alhamdulillah we learned a lot from this competition as a measure of our own abilities and as an improvement for our next works," said Zulfa.
