Bantul (UII News) – Floods in the Bantul area have caused damage in several places and displacement in various locations. For this incident, the Student Medical Assistance Team (TBMM) of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia in collaboration with SAR, and other Social Organizations opened flood control posts to ease the burden and provide health checks for impacted residents in Bantul.

This was conveyed by Dian Muhamad Gibran, as head of the Medical Faculty Student Medical Assistance Team (TBMM). Universitas Islam Indonesia, when opening a health post for victims of the Bantul Flood, in Donotirto and Tirtohargo Villages, Bantul, DIY on Monday, 11 Rajab 1440 H/18 March 2019.

According to Gibran, before the health post opened, TBMM FK UII conducted an assessment at the flood disaster location. From the results of coordination the team was directed to several areas, one of which was Kec. Karangtalun. The team decided to head to Kec. Karangtalun because according to information from ACT, this district is the most in need.

"The type of disaster is floods, due to heavy rains, the nature of what was caused was the overflow of the river and inundated the roads to residents' houses, access to the location can be traversed but several roads such as Jl. Parangtritis is still knee-deep in water,” said Gibran.

Furthermore, after the treatment was finished the team continued the assessment to the Tilaman area, Imogiri, Bantul on March 19 2019, there had been subsequent landslides which had caused several access roads to be closed so that several residents were isolated. According to the information obtained, there were 3 victims and 2 of them have not been found. The joint SAR team and several volunteers are still in the process of opening access roads and searching for victims. Wibowo
