Kaliurang (UII News) – Doctors and other medical personnel as the frontline in primary care often deal with patients who abuse drugs with various unique cases. As key person who are in direct contact with drug patients, it is not uncommon for doctors and medical personnel in primary care to still need the latest information refresh understanding and competence in terms of diagnosis, emergency management, prevention and the law that covers them.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Center for Drug Studies at the Islamic University of Indonesia, Prof.Dr.dr.H. Soewadi, MPH, Sp.KJ(K) who is a Professor of Mental Health and Head of the Mental Health Clinical Department (IKJ) of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia, in the national seminar "Challenges in Dealing with Drug Abuse Patients in Primary Services".

The activity which was held on Saturday, 29 Sha'ban 1440 H/04 May 2019 took place in the KH. Abdul Kahar Muzakir, Ulil Albab Mosque Integrated Complex Universitas Islam Indonesia, Jalan Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman Yogyakarta.

Prof. Soewadi further explained that the challenge for doctors and medical personnel is as officers in primary care, general practitioners are also expected to be able to guide the community regarding drug education, so that prevention and eradication efforts that are being carried out by the government can be carried out in full.

In an effort to support the prevention and eradication of drug abuse, as well as provide the latest understanding of drugs for general practitioners and medical personnel, the UII Drug Study Center held a seminar with the theme "Challenges in Dealing with Patients" Challenges in Dealing with Drug Abusing Patients in Primary Services.

"This activity is a form of concern from the UII Drug Study Center for the need for up-to-date information about patients who abuse drugs in primary care for general practitioners and other health workers," said Prof.Dr.dr. H. Soewadi, MPH., Sp.KJ(K). Wibowo
