UII Chancellor: Being a doctor must be sincere

Kaliurang (UII News – 27/10) – Being a doctor must be sincere, if sincere then our fortune will increase, after all, the fortune has been arranged by Allah SWT, so we don't doubt it as a devout Muslim.

This was conveyed by the Chancellor Universitas Islam Indonesia, Dr. Ir. Harsoyo, M.Sc when giving remarks and advice to all new doctors of the XXXI period who attended the Doctor's Inauguration and Oath on Tuesday, 27 October 2015 / 14 Muharam 1437 H in the KH auditorium. Abdul Kahar Muzakir, Ulil Albab Mosque Complex, UII Integrated Campus, Jalan Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman Yogyakarta, which was attended by 104 people.

According to Pak Harsoyo, with such sincerity, every doctor is ready to be placed anywhere, no longer caring about his fortune, how important life is just barely enough.

"You want to buy a Ferrari when you have money, you want to buy a house when you have money, you want to get married when you have good luck, you want to go to Hajj when you have money, so life is just mediocre," he said, which was greeted with applause and smiles from all those present. present.

Furthermore, the Chancellor of UII also said that the quality and quantity of UII Faculty of Medicine alumni is becoming increasingly important, especially when we look at the various health problems that are still being faced by people in Indonesia. These problems include the availability of infrastructure which is considered uneven and inadequate.

"Results of research conducted by the research institute "The Indonesian Institute" state that of the approximately 9.599 puskesmas and 2.184 hospitals in Indonesia, most are still based in big cities," he said.

Furthermore, he explained that another problem in the health sector that is still evident from several records is the uneven distribution of health workers, including doctors' professions. Several areas still have a shortage of health workers, especially specialist doctors. As we know, the ideal ratio of doctors and population in a province is 1:2.500-5.000.

"As a form of contribution to this problem, UII Faculty of Medicine alumni should always be ready to serve themselves, return to their respective regions, even if later assigned to regions," he advised. Wibowo/Tri
