FK UII Student Wins the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture's English Language Scientific Debate

JAKARTA (fk.uii.ac.id) - Salsabila Zannuba Kurniawan, student Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) class of 2019, managed to make the alma mater proud by winning the title of Novice Champion and Silver Medal Best Speaker from the biggest English debate competition in Indonesia: National University Debating Championship (NUDC) organized by the National Achievement Center of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

NUDC 2021 takes place online from 24-29 August 2021 with a total of 110 teams from various universities in Indonesia, including campuses with big names in NUDC history, such as University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Padjadjaran University, to Airlangga University .

Each NUDC participant consists of two debaters and one N1 Adjudicator. debate are active students of the Undergraduate Program (maximum 10th semester) or Diploma (maximum 6th semester for D-3 and 8th semester for D4), who are registered at the Higher Education Database (PD-Dikti). N1 Adjudicator is an active student/lecturer from the university of origin debaters as evidenced by a letter of assignment signed by the head of the college. To be able to appear at NUDC, participants must first pass the regional selection.

Various hot and up-to-date topics were raised at NUDC this time, among others related Childfree Movement, digital alterations (such as the use of filters), sports competition and its impact on mental health, wars in the Middle East (Palestine, Israel, and Afghanistan), international relations (NATO, conflict resolution, and so on), education, to the environment and its relationship with the economy (government policies , corporate policy).

In short, to be able to excel at NUDC, each participant is required to have broad insights and knowledge regarding various developments taking place both at home and abroad covering various aspects of life.

"Since being appointed as a delegate from the university, I have been motivated to continue diligently practicing intensively for more than 4 months. Apart from that, I also prepare by frequently reading the news and following up sparring debate," said Salsabila. (etc)
