Kaliurang (UII News-8/11) – Programs and activities carried out by students can influence political, environmental, economic and socio-cultural changes. One of the flagship programs of the FK UII Student Executive Body is the assisted village. In March 2014, Dusun Ngepring officially became FK UII's fostered village. With the theme "Clean and healthy lifestyle for the people of Ngepring to be more productive", the coaching activities in Ngepring hamlet are named Kawolu Kawulo.

According to Jamilah, it was these Kawolu Kawulo who were brought up by Jamilah Aulia and Galih Putro to be presented at the 2015 Regional Conference on Student Activism (RECONSA) at Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia, which was attended by students from various countries in ASEAN with the theme "Innovative and Sustainable Volunteerism” took place from 6-8 November 2015/ 24-26 Shafar 1437 H. The two students became FK UII delegates to share ideas, opinions, and humanitarian activities that FK UII students always encourage.

“Being medical students who want to get in touch with society directly, we desire to do something for people around us. We couldn't stay still. We were trying to empower people in Ngepring Village, so they can stand by their own feet. So this is our small scale effort for developing Ngepring Village, Kawolu Kawulo: A Beat of Life in Mount Merapi's Edge.”, said Jamilah in introducing the assisted village program at RECONSA 2015.

The conference participants were quite enthusiastic about the Kawolu Kawulo program. Several participants also asked FK UII about other aspects of humanitarian activities. The activity took place very interactively and the FK UII delegation gained a lot of knowledge as well as support to continue promoting humanitarian programs upon their return to their beloved campus.
