Kaliurang (UII News) -Earthquake and Tsunami disasters have befallen our brothers in Palu, Sigi, and Donggala, Central Sulawesi on Friday, 28 September 2018. UII's empathy is part of a form of movement from citizens Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) to collect donations, as is done by the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) by collecting various logistical medicines and human resources to be sent to the disaster location to lighten the burden that must be borne by our brothers and sisters affected there.

This was conveyed by dr. Yaltafit Abroor Jeem, M.Sc, as the UII Medical Team for UII's Empathy for the Earthquake and Tsunami natural disasters in Palu, Sigi, and Donggala, Central Sulawesi.

According to doctor Jeem, the earthquake which was followed by the tsunami, and several aftershocks that followed, had many victims there, many lost their families, many lost their homes, property, and were in pain everywhere.

"So this is what makes us from UII Medicine moved to provide assistance to those affected there," said doctor Jeem.

It was further explained that for the preparation of volunteer delegations for the Palu, Sigi and Donggala disasters in Central Sulawesi, the UII Faculty of Medicine prepared a medical team consisting of doctors who were lecturers of the UII FK, UII FK alumni, and the Faculty of Medicine Student Medical Assistance Team (TBMM) Universitas Islam Indonesia as well as nurses.

As a volunteer delegation mandated by Universitas Islam Indonesia, FK UII made several preparations to meet the needs and logistics that would be used at the location based on the experience that had been carried out at the disaster site.

The preparations were in the form of collecting logistical data, medicines, and other needs needed by the victims there, seeking funds, and requesting assignment letters from the Faculty and related institutions. In addition, the team also arranged for lecture permits for TBMM FK UII, looked for plane tickets to Palu, and coordinated with FK UII alumni and several relations in Palu and its surroundings for needs there.

The result of the experience while being a medical team was to help ease the burden of the tsunami earthquake victims in Palu, Sigi and Donggala, Central Sulawesi, as well as add insight, knowledge, experience to the volunteers of the UII Medical medical team regarding the handling of disaster victims.

Meanwhile, the obstacles encountered during the implementation of becoming a medical team for Palu, Sigi and Donggala Volunteers were difficult transportation problems because the roads were quite damaged, so if you use an ordinary car it can damage the car, and it is better to use an Off Road car, to overcome this the FK UII medical team continued to use makeshift cars and motorbikes. Including ambulances to transport patients who are still lacking, said doctor Yaltafit Abror Jeem, M.Sc as the medical team from UII Medicine in his story of preparation, experience and obstacles being a medical team for natural disasters for UII Empathy.
