KKN UII Program to Optimize the Potential of the Essential Oil Industry in Purworejo

Purworejo (UII News) – UII KKN Batch 59 in Purworejo held an expo and presentation of activities in front of the Regional Government of Purworejo Regency, Gebang Sub-District Head, and Village Heads at the Gong Silegi Tourism Location Hall, Kemiri Village, Gebang District, Purworejo Regency on Saturday, 27 Dzulhijah 1440 H / August 29, 2019 by displaying the results of the KKN activities, exhibited with an interesting concept, followed by a brief and detailed presentation of the KKN flagship work program representing 340 students throughout Purworejo Regency.

This was conveyed by dr. R.Edi Fitriyanto, M.Gizi as the Head of the UII KKN Center, and explained that the activity was in the form of a presentation beginning with the delivery of the systematics of UII KKN student activities carried out according to the scientific method, including data collection, analysis, problem formulation, preparation of activity phases, up to monitoring and evaluation.

"One of the programs raised is the development of the Silegi Gong Rest Area and Outbound Locations. The main purpose of developing this location is to improve people's welfare. This location is the gateway to the Purworejo Regency area,” said dr. Eddie Fitriyanto

Next, students describe the development plan which includes tourist spots, facilities, management plans. To support the program, village-owned enterprise development is also carried out, souvenir-making training, and marketing training.

After the presentation, it was followed by discussion and responses from related agencies, sub-district government, village government, village-owned enterprise managers, and community leaders.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Village Community Empowerment Service Agus Ari Sediyadi, S.Sos expressed his appreciation and emphasized the importance of empowering the community with the right approach, this requires managerial understanding and direct learning to the community.

Also giving a speech from the Subdistrict Head of Gebang District, KH Makin Mubasir, SH, MH. In his remarks, the alumni of the UII Faculty of Law gave enthusiasm and optimism for the achievement of the activity's objectives in view of the development of systematic student learning methods.

The same thing was conveyed by the Head of Pelutan Village, Gebang District, who said that the UII KKN student activities were extraordinary and beneficial to the community, especially for the development of clove and lemongrass essential oils under the guidance of DR. Noor Fitri. The village head also highlighted the success of the activities in fostering village-owned enterprises, especially in managerial improvement and increasing human resources.

Other inputs came from the Department of Tourism and Public Works to align KKN activities with regional development planning so that the benefits can be felt more.

Other KKN student activity products include simple technology for leaf chopping machines, crushing teak leaves, coaching coconut sugar craftsmen, training for bamboo craftsmen, making briquettes from coconut coir, making biopesticides and according to UII values, da'wah activities always color the activities of each unit, from from religious profiles to coaching activities directly in the community.
