KKN UII 59, Community Empowerment and Leveraging Village Community Potential

Kaliurang (UII News) – The release of students participating in the UII KKN Batch 59 was carried out by UII Chancellor Fathul Wahid, ST, M.Sc., Ph.D, attended by the Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Research Field I Dr. Drs. Imam Djati Widodo, M.Eng.Sc., DPPM Leaders, Field I and II Supervisors, and all students participating in KKN.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Real Work Lecture Program Universitas Islam Indonesia, doctor Edy Fitriyanto, M.Gizi on Thursday, 22 Dzulqoidah 1440 H/ 25 July 2019, in the Parking lot of the Faculty of Psychology and Socio-Cultural (FPSB) and the Faculty of Medicine UII, Jalan Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman Yogyakarta.

In his remarks, the Chancellor of UII reminded students that KKN activities are academic activities with a dedication method which is full of challenges for students. The challenge is expected to provide valuable lessons, galvanize students as future leaders.

"Students are a small part of the younger generation who have the opportunity to get higher education, this opportunity must be grateful for and make the best use of it," explained the Chancellor of UII.

Furthermore, the Chancellor of UII also advised to maintain the good name of UII, giving an easy tip, namely "Maintaining the personal good name of each student means maintaining the good name of UII", because students are UII ambassadors in society.

Doctor Edy Fitriyanto explained that during this period of KKN Batch 59, 2512 students would be deployed consisting of 1202 men and 1310 women, divided into 313 regular model KKN units and 1 AIESEC model KKN unit, involving 46 Field Supervisors I ( DPL 1), 46 DPL 2. Regular KKN locations cover the districts of Kebumen, Purworejo, Magelang, Klaten, Boyolali, and Gunungkidul.

"During this period UII KKN activities emphasized exploring village potential, implementing a sustainable systematic community empowerment model, and a more massive role of da'wah. Village potential profile is data base which is informative as a result of exploring the potential of the village which can be used as a basis for developing development," said Dr. Edy.

Furthermore, the model of sustainable systematic empowerment prioritizes increasing the capacity of the community and village apparatus in planning development and village budgets, establishing and training village-owned enterprise managers. Meanwhile, increasing the competence of individuals and community groups is still being carried out in line with the direction of development.

Doctor Edy added that Dakwah Islamiyah as UII's beacon would be improved, starting with the identification of facilities for worship, education, and Islamic activities in the community which would be described in the village's religious profile. This profile also contains history related to da'wah and Islam in the local area as a reminder and reminder so that it is not lost in time. Da'wah activities will be more intensive by increasing the role of DPL and establishing cooperation between DPPM and DPPAI in providing da'wah materials and resource persons. Da'wah can be implemented in various ways bil p or bill khitabah or book bill according to community needs.

"With KKN activities it is hoped that students will be able to identify and analyze the potential and problems faced by the community, then develop work plans and manage programs to solve problems according to their competence," added doctor Edy Fitriyanto.

In addition to the tangible results in the community, UII's Community Service Program also targets outcomes in the form of devotional articles and da'wah so that it is expected to reinforce UII's points in scientific publications, as well as being beneficial for the career development of supervising lecturers.

Guarantees that these goals can be achieved make special preparations, including the academic requirements of KKN participating students which aim to ensure mastery of scientific disciplines and ability in scientific writing.
