Yogyakarta (UII News) – Being involved in the world of Islamic medical education is mandatory for the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia, as an answer to the challenges of globalization that must be answered in order to compete with other medical faculties both at home and abroad.

This was conveyed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia, dr. Linda Rosita, M.Kes, Sp.PK when giving her remarks while hosting the Indonesian Islamic Medicine Forum (FOKI) Seminar and Workshop which was held on Wednesday - Friday, 24 - 26 Robiul Awal 1439 H / 13 -1 5 December 2017 at Andrawina Ballroom Jogjakarta Plaza Hotel, Jl. Affandi-Gejayan, Colombo Complex, Yogyakarta. Which was followed by the Faculty of Islamic Medicine throughout Indonesia.

According to doctor Linda, being the host of this activity was because FK UII is a member of the Indonesian Islamic Medical Forum (FOKI). FOKI is a forum that facilitates Islamic medical faculties in Indonesia to synergize and be ready to face globalization in medical education.

"The national seminar with the theme Increasing the Competitiveness of Islamic Medical Faculties in the Era of Global Competition was held as a means to stay in touch and increase insight and synergy between Islamic medical faculties in an effort to develop Islamic medical faculties to be able to compete in the global era," said doctor Linda.

The Dean of FK UII further explained that one of the global challenge issues, the number of medical faculties has reached 84 medical faculties, thereby encouraging Islamic medical faculties to be able to improve quality so that they can compete in this global era.

"This gathering and seminar which was attended by Islamic medicine throughout Indonesia is a means of discussion to produce graduates with competencies that are in accordance with competency standards that have been set," said Doctor Linda, Dean of FK UII. Wibowo
