Kaliurang (UII News) – Eight delegates from the UII Faculty of Medicine took part in a series of activities Gadjah Mada Indonesian Medical Science Olympiad (GIMSCO), with special competition activities discussing branches of medical science, namely Anatomy, both basic anatomy and clinical anatomy, and was attended by 95 teams from 33 different universities.

This was conveyed by Amnaz Alhamanisa (2014) UII Medicine, after participating in the event on Thursday – Monday, 26-30 Muharram 1437 H / 27 – 31 October 2016 at the Faculty of Medicine, Gajah Mada University.

According to Amnas, the UII Medical Delegation sent came from the 2014 and 2015 batches which were then divided into 4 different teams and organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), so that the entire series of event activities took place around the UGM Medical Faculty medical building.

"This activity consisted of several rounds, the first was the preliminary round I (BPT I). In this round, all delegates were divided into 3 groups to take part in the anatomy test. After participating in BPT I, 60 of the best teams will be screened to take part in BPT II, of the 4 teams sent by FK UII, only 1 team has successfully passed to take part in BPT II, the team that passed consists of Amnaz Alhamanisa (2014) and Hilya Nabila (2015) )”, said Amnas

Amnas further explained that during the BPT II selection, the questions consisted of 100 slides and applied a +4 system for each correct answer and -1 for an incorrect answer.

The difficulty at this year's GIMSCO is that all questions are translated in English with 30 seconds for each question. So that the delegates must be smarter in dividing and allocating their time to answer the questions that have been provided.

"In order to qualify for the next stage, the anatomy learning model from FK UII itself needs to be improved to improve the quality of anatomy for the next generation. The discussion and understanding of the materials that have been studied are not deep and detailed, so they still do not really understand questions, especially regarding clinical anatomy. This year's evaluation and improvements are expected to make progress for the next generation who will take part in GIMSCO 2017, so that the delegation team from FK UII can be included in the 25 best teams and the 5 best teams which will finally bring the name of FK UII to be even better, amen.” Please Amnaz Alhamanisa- GIMSCO 2016 delegation of FK UII.
