SURABAYA (fmuiinews) – Delegation of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) consisting of Adi Nugraha, Naila Salim Suparlan, and Vatia Lucyana Hendyca won 1st place in the 2021 National Airlangga Medical Scientific Week Educational Video organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga.

In the final round which took place on 22-24 October 2021, FK UII had to compete closely with various well-known campuses in Indonesia, such as the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Airlangga University, and Hang Tuah University.

On this occasion, the FK UII delegation presented a work entitled: “Huh, Graves' Disease? What's that?". The work adapts the theme of AMSW 2021, namely "Endocrine & Metabolic Disorders".

"We have to look for diseases related to the theme. For each disease, we looked at the prevalence and how much education there was on YouTube. Based on our survey, Graves' Disease has a fairly high prevalence,” explained Naila

According to Basic Health Research in 2007, the number of sufferers of Graves' Disease in Indonesia reached 6.9% of Indonesia's population. Meanwhile, according to epidemiological study data, there are 20:100.000 individuals living with Graves' Disease worldwide.

"In addition, Graves' Disease educational content on the YouTube channel is also very limited. From there, we made the decision to choose material about Graves' Disease so that we can contribute to its prevention and management,” concluded Naila. (etc)
