FK UII Discusses Osteoporosis Diet

Kaliurang (UII News-03/09) – BM is a recommended food ingredient. In this case, regarding the Osteoporosis Diet, including BM Sources of Calcium, BM Sources of Vitamin D.

This was conveyed by Mother. Mirza Hapsari Sakti TP, S.Gz.RD., MPH when delivering his material on the Osteoporosis Diet in front of the lecturers and tutors participating in the TOI Sport Health Elective Block (4.1) in the auditorium on the 1st floor of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia, Jl. Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman, Yogyakarta on Thursday, 03 September 2015 / 19 Dzulqoidah 1436 H.

Mrs. Mirza explained that Osteoporosis is a disturbance in the balance between bone formation and remodeling that occurs at an advanced age, especially in women of menopause age.

"Osteoporosis results in an increased risk of fracture. So the main goal of therapy is to prevent fractures, this balance is influenced by vitamin D3 (calcitriol) which stimulates osteoblast cells (bone building cells) in bone formation," he said.

It was further said that for the management of the Osteoporosis Diet it aims to help reduce further fragility of bone mass, so it is recommended to consume vitamin D, calcium, folic acid, manganese, magnesium, copper, selenium, vitamin K and avoid alcohol and caffeine. Wibowo/Tri
