Yogyakarta, FK UII – At the end of August(30/08) Faculty of Medicine UII signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of South Asia. The University of South Asia is one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh. This collaboration was established because of concerns about the high level of disabilities in children in Bangladesh through a seminar that took place in the 1st floor Auditorium Faculty of Medicine UII. In this activity, Faculty of Medicine UII has a visiting lecturer from the University of South Asia, namely Prof. Mohd Muhit.

This activity carries the theme “Epidemology of Childhood Disability in a LMIC Country: for research to practice”. In this seminar Prof. Mohammad Muhit conveyed various backgrounds that led to the rise of children with disabilities in Bangladesh. He also said that most people with disabilities are only 6-10 years old. Based on the world health agency (WHO), 13% of them experience more than one disability. This percentage does not include people with mild and moderate impairment. He also discussed various treatment methods and solutions that have been implemented to tackle disability in Bangladesh, especially in several areas in Rajshahi such as Sirajganj, Natore and Bogra. One of the countermeasures that has been running is by providing education about disabilities to children. Apart from that, there is also an open discussion forum with Dr. Pariawan Lutfi Ghazali, M.Kes., as the moderator.

It is a matter of pride for Faculty of Medicine UII can establish cooperation with one of the top universities in Bangladesh. Because not all faculties have the same opportunity. Moreover, there are so many benefits that can be taken by holding this event. So, in order to strengthen ties of friendship and broaden horizons between universities, next year this event will be held again.

The University of South Asia is one of the private universities in Bangladesh. This cooperation was established due to concerns about the high rate of persons with disabilities in children in Bangladesh through a seminar held at the UII Medical Faculty's 1st floor auditorium. In this activity, the Faculty of Medicine UII arrival of a guest lecturer from the University of South Asia that is Prof. Mohd Muhit.

This percentage does not include patients with mild and moderate disturbances. He also discussed various methods and handling solutions that have been implemented to tackle disability in Bangladesh, especially in some areas of Rajshahi such as Sirajganj, Natore and Bogra. One of the prevention measures that has been done is to provide counseling about the disabled in children. In addition, also open a discussion forum with dr. Pariawan Lutfi Ghazali, M. Kes., as a moderator.

It was a pride for the Faculty of Medicine UII to establish cooperation with one of the leading universities in Bangladesh. Because not all faculties have the same opportunity. More benefits can be made with the implementation of this event. Therefore, in order to tighten the bonds and broaden the horizons between universities. As soon as possible next year the event will be held again.
