Kaliurang (UII News) – Two lecturers at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia had the opportunity to take part in the 10 2017th European Congress of Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) which was held in Antwerp, Belgium.

This was conveyed by one of the lecturers, namely doctor Irena Agustiningtyas, M.Sc, after participating in the activities which were carried out for 5 days starting Monday - Friday, 26 -30 Muharom 1439 H / 16-20 October 2017 at the Flanders Meeting and Convention Center, Antwerp.

According to doctor Irena, in this activity the two FK UII lecturers brought a poster presentation. dr. Utami Mulyaningrum, M.Sc with the title The influence of dengue serotype on disease severity. Meanwhile dr. Irena Agustiningtyas, M.Sc entitled Seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis among premarital women in, Banguntapan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Both themes were raised because cases of both dengue hemorrhagic fever and toxoplasmosis are still quite high in Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta.

"The opportunity to meet and share findings from various perspectives on infectious diseases with researchers from around the world can add to the repertoire of research development related to infectious diseases at FK UII," said doctor Irena.

It was further explained that the themes presented in various small presentation groups from molecular diagnosis to health information systems were well packaged so that participants could follow according to their respective interests.

“The prevalence of Neglected Disease is presented in many developing countries. dr. Irena hopes that in the future research on Neglected Disease in Indonesia will also be explored a lot so that data information can be easily obtained and in the end Neglected Disease can be completely overcome," she hoped.
