Kaliurang (UII News) – Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) attended the Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) of the Association of Indonesian Microbiologists.

This was conveyed by the FK UII delegation from the Department of Microbiology, FK UII, namely Dr. dr. Farida Juliantina Rachmawaty, M.Kes after attending the Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) which took place at Prince Beach Hotel Padang on Thursday - Saturday, 22 -24 Muharrom 1439 H / 12 -14 October 2017 which was attended by microbiologists from all over the world. Indonesia.

According to doctor Farida, at the event, she brought a paper entitled "Optimization of Red Betel Leaf Ethanol Extract (Piper crocatum) as Antibacterial against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus".

The activity took place from 12-14 October 2017. The first day was a workshop activity while the 2nd and 3rd day were symposium activities. This activity, which was attended by participants in most parts of Indonesia, presented some of the latest information. Among them is the high cases of bacterial resistance in various hospital centers, especially in the ICU which requires comprehensive coordination.

"On the other hand, the position of Indonesia's TB cases in the world is ranked 2nd after previously improving to rank 5th. There are also several new discoveries that need to be known, such as the existence of a magnetic rack used in the DNA isolation process," said doctor Farida.

He added that by using the magnetic rack, the separation between the supernatant and the pellet does not need to use a centrifuge. However, simply by placing it on a magnetic rack that has been designed in such a way that the suspension is deep microtubes which will be examined will automatically separate into pellets and supernatant.

A new technology that is also being developed is for the diagnosis of tuberculosis. In recent years, the diagnosis of TB can be done quickly using the gene expert currently developed by the TB Lamp.

On this occasion, Doctor Farida had the opportunity to win a prize in the form of a pair of watches from the Alexander Christy brand for being able to answer questions correctly. Wibowo[:]
