AIRC-UNAIR SURABAYA (1-3/2) – This workshop was held for 3 days, 1-3 February 2017, and was organized by Avian Influenza Research Center (AIRC) Airlangga University Surabaya. In this workshop, the theme raised was arbovirus detection using the multiplex real time PCR method. In this workshop, participants were also introduced to BSL-3 and researchers were also introduced to various types of research related to avian influenza.

The workshop participants were also explained in detail the process for detecting arboviruses with realtime PCR, starting from sample preparation, RNA extraction from samples, sample preparation for insertion into the PCR machine, to running realtime PCR and how to interpret the results.

This workshop activity was attended by various institutions or universities which actively developed arbovirus detection techniques and their development. From the Faculty of Medicine, UII, those who took part in this workshop were dr. Novyan Lusiyana, M.Sc, dr. Fitria Siwi Nur Rochmah, M.Sc, and Mujiyanto, S.Si

It is hoped that the participation of the team from FK UII in this activity will encourage the advancement of research on arboviruses and their development, as well as other related research. This is done for the sake of laboratory development within FK UII. (LN/Tri)
