PREVENT ANXIETY WITH Dhikr and PRAYER

Today there are many cases related to mental health, especially anxiety disorders. The prevalence of anxiety disorders in Indonesia is 3-8% with 6% of them occurring in the age group of children and adolescents. This figure is not much different from the global prevalence.

Anxiety disorders are caused by many things, one of the most common is a stressor. This makes sufferers worry excessively, think about scary things that may not happen, easily distracted, difficult to focus, and overreact to something. In addition, anxiety disorders can also cause physical symptoms such as palpitations, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and a feeling of choking. If this happens continuously, the patient's productivity can be disrupted.

Then how do we prevent it?

Let's prevent anxiety disorders with meditation!

Meditation in KBBI means concentration of thoughts and feelings to achieve something. Meditation is a training technique to train attention, concentration, increase the level of awareness so that you can observe every change from within. In the psychological aspect, meditation has many good effects, one of which is decreased anxiety, increased self-control, self-esteem, self-actualization, empathy, and self-confidence.

Then how do we do meditation?

Do you have to take paid yoga classes or meditation classes?

It turned out that there was no need! We as Muslims have done meditation every day, what is that? Namely prayer and dhikr. Prayers performed solemnly focus on the servant's interaction with his Lord. This is the same as the principle of meditation, which is concentration of mind. The prayer itself contains prayers and dhikr. Based on KBBI, dhikr means praise to Allah that is repeated repeatedly. In short, dhikr means remembering Allah, this is stated in the Qur'an Surah an-Nisa verse 103 which means: "So when you have finished (your) prayer, remember Allah while standing, sitting and lying down. . Then when you feel safe, then establish the prayer (as usual). Verily, prayer is fardhu (obligation) which is determined by the time for those who believe.

The process of dhikr and prayer makes us focus on one point, namely the activity of remembering Allah which is carried out repeatedly, thus reducing the excessive thoughts that occur in conditions of anxiety disorders. With dhikr and prayer, we remember Allah through our hearts, words and actions so as to increase our piety while at the same time making our hearts peaceful.
