Some of us must feel confused, if we have to take medicine while fasting. There are drugs that must be consumed 3-4 times a day, so they require consumption in the morning, afternoon and evening. Then how to anticipate it?

Consult a doctor

  1. Ask your doctor to replace the drugs used with slow-release preparations. So that it can reduce the frequency of use without reducing the effectiveness of the drug
  2. Fasting in Indonesia is not possible to have a fasting duration of less than 12 hours. So that the drug 2 × 1 still can not be consumed. However, many drugs are 1 × 1 with a similar class and therapeutic effect. For example: the hypertension drug captopril is used 2-3 x 1 to lisinopril 1x a day
  3. Doctors are also able to vary the schedule for drug consumption using the time of breaking the fast until dawn with the drawback that the effect of the drug cannot cover 1 full day. Some painkillers make it possible to do this, but drugs such as antibiotics are not possible because they can cause resistance if the dose is late.
  4. Don't forget to ask whether the medicine given is consumed before / after eating. Because fasting causes an empty stomach which is vulnerable to drugs that are not friendly to the stomach.

Consider the Benefits and Mudhorot Scientifically

But we as patients or doctors cannot close our eyes, if the results of consensus and research show that the treatment of certain diseases is not recommended for fasting. As in cases of severe infection and diabetes complications. Here information and wisdom are needed from both Doctors and Patients.

Amen

"Indeed, this religion is easy, and it is not someone who overdoes (troubles himself) in matters of religion but religion will defeat him." [HR. Bukhari]

In Islam, there are various legal concessions (rukhsah) for not fasting during Ramadan for people who are physically unable or experience difficulties and fatigue while fasting. But you can still do good deeds during Ramadan in other forms.

"So whoever among you is sick or on a journey (then he breaks his fast), then (it is obligatory for him to fast) as many days as he has missed on other days. And it is obligatory for those who are hard to do it (if they don't fast) pay fidyah. [QS Al-Baqarah: 184].
