adolescents and the threat of pre-marital sex

ADOLESCENT AND THE THREATS OF PRE-MARRIAGE SEX

By: dr.Titik Kuntari, MPH

WHEN permissivism (freedom) can no longer be dammed – So, teenagers are direct victims of this phenomenon. All of this is clearly a blurry sketch of our nation's future, bearing in mind that it is on their shoulders that we will entrust the future of this nation. In the past, the main problem was usually addressed to the extent of understanding of the problem of sex and its various risks (sex education). We have to admit that at that time, information about sexuality was still very minimal. Moreover, there is still an impression of taboo surrounding sex to be discussed – and almost 0% of the transformation of explanations for this problem from parents to children. Even if there is, it is usually done during the pre-wedding "debriefing" or the marriage sermon (uler-uler nikah) – and even then it is delivered in very concise language and full of symbols. The existence of this taboo-ism understanding, enlarges the circle of problems among our youth.

Currently, information about sex is actually very open. Via the internet – there are probably hundreds of "porn" sites that can be accessed at any time and by anyone regardless of age. Likewise with the publication of various books such as Jakarta Under-Cover (Moamar Em-Ka), Sex in the Kost & Campuss Fresh Chicken (Iip Wijayanto) and many more. Or through shows on TV like the phenomenon on Trans-TV. Also through talk shows, on-air or off-air. Seminars. Also writings and various articles spread in various print media – local, regional and even national.

However, the content of these studies must be examined further – the educational value contained in them. Don't worry, instead of making teenagers afraid to do these deviant activities, by actually seeing or reading the material – our teenagers are even inspired to do it too. This is also a quite serious problem, how to organize this information so that it can make a positive (constructive) contribution to the morality-development program designed by our government. Therefore, if the government has so far imposed a strict selection of films (soap operas) by establishing a national film censorship agency, ideally the government should also have a censorship agency for the publication of books with the theme of sex and its derivatives. The goal…? Of course, so that the flow of information about sex consumed by our teenagers remains on the right track, namely sex-education (education about the risks of pre-marital sex) and not sex-applications.

LOSS
INFORMATION around sex issues without the support of adequate regulatory instruments – the results of this “education” will also not be optimal. There is an urgent need to make regulations related to efforts to narrow the area of immorality, such as tightening supervision of hotels that may be used as dating venues. That is, PERDA: Hotel Management must increase its protection contents so that it is not misused for these matters. The next PERDA which is also urgently needed relates to organizing art performances and music events. The control of sexy singers must be improved. In many reports, we can read about cases of rape after watching music programs which are complemented by erotic acts, such as singers stripping their clothes leaving very minimalistic parts of clothing.

Furthermore, we also need PERDA: Management of tourist attractions. Why…? So far, tourist attractions such as beaches, parks, campus gardens to parking zones outside sports stadiums which are dark at night – have the potential to be used as “dating spots” for teenagers. We can see, at night along the streets (corridors) and campus parks that are dark at night – in many places, almost every night it is filled with parked motorbikes and above them there is a couple of teenagers who are engrossed in doing intimate scenes. Likewise, in the parking zone where sports facilities are also very minimally lit at night (if there is no event), they are a favorite place for teenagers to make love. And if this PERDA can be implemented simultaneously. If it is partially enforced, then these youths will "run" to places where the regulations are considered looser. And also not to be forgotten, is the PERDA: Management of Nightlife Places so that underage youths cannot easily enter. The control that is imposed will certainly consume a lot of energy because with the growth of nutrition and makeup technology, our teenagers will look like adults at a glance. But the checking mechanism with the KTP will certainly provide real information.

These two approaches (healthy information and regulation) are expected to be complete enough to oversee the development of the morality of our youth. And parents, don't just trust their children – and give up coaching their children because no matter how great extra coaching (outside the home) and regulatory protection are, without continuous assistance from parents, the results won't be optimal. The synergy between the guidance carried out by the government and the guidance carried out by parents will guide our youth to grow towards good morality. God willing. Wallahu A'lamu Bishawwab
