Refreshing Mentoring at FK UII

Mentoring activities are mandatory activities for FK UII students to increase their understanding and practice of Islamic values. This is important as one of the processes in realizing the excellence of FK UII which is in line with strategic goals 1 and 4, namely Islamic excellence and student excellence with character. To improve the ability of mentors to guide the mentee, it is necessary to do a refresher for the mentors. The mentoring refresh was held on Wednesday 12 November 2014 by presenting Ustad Abu Ayyub who was attended by all FK UII mentors. The ustad provided the mentors with very touching advice that to be a successful mentor one must be willing to learn from the behavior of the Prophet. In history it is recorded that many Quraysh infidels converted to Islam not solely because Allah's verses were recited to them and then they immediately believed. They are interested in Islam because of the noble, noble and virtuous morals of the Prophet, so that each friend feels that they are the person who is most loved by the Messenger of Allah.

Ustad Ayyub explained how mentors can become magnets for students. The trick is to become a spiritual teacher who is able to grow faith and is able to move people to do good deeds. Mentors are also required to be qualified in terms of science so they can teach the right knowledge to the mentee. Then mentors must be able to become parents for students who are able to nurture, love and care for them. Mentors are able to understand and explore the nature or personality of each student. In addition, mentors must also be able to become leaders who are always at the forefront of everything to set an example. Finally, the mentor must also be able to be a sincere friend because every friend can give intercession later on the Day of Resurrection.

Hopefully, this activity will be an encouragement in continuing the struggle to bring Islam to the forefront of FK UII towards a UII that is ramatalil'alamin. At the end of this activity dr. Fadli hopes that the mentor's commitment will be maintained and will be more enthusiastic in guiding students. May Allah always bless UII. Amen
