Kaliurang (UII News) – Until now PSPD FK UII has graduated 2109 doctors spread all over the country or abroad. This is a long and winding struggle in achieving the goal, to be entitled to hold the title of doctor for students of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Medical Education Study Program (PSPD) of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII), dr. Erlina Marfianti, M.Sc, Sp.PD when delivering her report at the 32nd Doctor's Oath and Inauguration ceremony in the KH auditorium. Abdul Kahar Muzakir, UII Integrated Campus, Jalan Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Tuesday, 19 January 2016 / 09 Rabiul Awal 1437 H which was attended by 58 new doctors.

According to doctor Erlina, in carrying out their responsibilities as a doctor, graduates should never stop learning to explore, and keep abreast of advances in medical science and technology which continue to experience improvements and changes. So the doctor must update his knowledge throughout his life, as a "long life learnersin dealing with health problems. "Handling disease problems that do not comply with the latest standards is malpractice," said the message.

Meanwhile, as the Dean of FK UII, Doctor Linda Rosita, M.Kes, Sp.PK is paying attention to the priority policy as conveyed by the Head of PSPD Study Program FK UII, new Doctors who have graduated from UII must be ready to be placed anywhere, because UII's vision is rahmatan lil a'lamin, considering that the ratio of doctors and residents in Indonesia still cannot reach remote areas.

“Go back to your hometown to become a provider and public servant in the health sector. With a better distribution of doctors, it is hoped that people's access to health services by doctors will be even better and that Islamic da'wah will reach remote and underdeveloped areas. Wherever you are placed, a helpful and caring spirit should be attached to the person of the doctor," said the Dean of FK UII.

Furthermore, UII Chancellor, Dr.Ir. Harsoyo, M.Sc delivered his remarks which were in line with the Head of Study Program and Dean of FK UII stating that with this Government Policy the quality and quantity of UII Faculty of Medicine alumni became increasingly important, especially when we look at various health problems that are still being faced today. For example, the distribution of health workers, especially the medical profession, is still uneven.

“Several areas are still experiencing a shortage of health workers, especially the availability of specialist doctors. As we know, the ideal ratio of doctors and population in a province is between 1:2.500-5.000. As a form of contribution to this problem, UII Faculty of Medicine alumni should always be ready to serve themselves, return to their respective areas, even if later assigned to remote areas," he said.

Furthermore, the UII Chancellor, who wore a white coat at the inauguration, reminded that the existence of true doctors does not only provide health services, but also provides education to the public about a healthy lifestyle so that preventive aspects of health are also fulfilled. Another thing that alumni of the UII Faculty of Medicine can also do is provide knowledge in choosing good health services, such as alternative medicine which are widely spread in various regions. "As recently there was a case of chiropractic treatment that ended in the death of a patient, education from UII FK alumni doctors is eagerly awaited in the community," he said.Wibowo/Tri
