The Importance of Mental and Spirituality Towards Success in 2016 SMA/MA UAN

Mentality and spirituality are two important things that need to be prepared by SMA/MA students in facing the 2016 National Final Examination (UAN). From many surveys conducted in various countries in the world, these two things even have a higher value than intelligence or academic value in terms of determining a person's success in the future. This was conveyed by dr. H. Agus Taufiqqurohman, M.Kes, Sp.S as speaker for the second session of the One-Day Scientific Seminar: "Preparing Physically, Intelligence, and Mentally High School/MA Students Intelligently Towards Success in 2016 UAN" Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) which was attended by 60 counseling teachers from SMA/MA throughout DIY and Central Java on Saturday, 14 November 2015 at the Auditorium of FK UII.

"This event is a form of FK UII's concern in helping counseling teachers as a place for consultation for SMA/MA students in preparing their students for success in the 2016 UAN later," said dr. Dimas Satya Hendarta as the chairman of the committee as well as the speaker for the first session of the seminar. According to the doctor who is also an alumni of FK UII, student failures in facing UAN are often caused by non-technical factors. "Technically, high school/MA students may have prepared themselves sufficiently by studying at school, taking tutoring courses, and so on. But non-technically, physical, mental and spiritual preparations are often neglected so that it is not uncommon for them to experience nervousness, excessive tension, and some even get sick when UAN is in sight, this is clearly detrimental and must be anticipated early on." clear dr. Dimas.

"So in this event we are trying to do something knowledge sharing in order to optimize the role of BK teachers in guiding SMA/MA students in their schools. Hopefully by participating in this event the counseling teachers can help direct their students in making the best preparations for success in the 2016 National Examination, not only from intelligence but also from a socio-psychosocial and spiritual perspective," concluded dr. Dimas who is also the Head of the Volunteer League and Doctor-Entrepreneur ex. UII. DSH/Tri
