Kaliurang (UII News) – Merck Diabetes Award 2017 is an innovation writing competition in solving diabetes problems in each country. This event was organized by Merck Foundation. Merck itself is one of the largest companies in the field of medicine, which has 140 branches worldwide with its headquarters in New Jersey.

This was conveyed by Mohamad Rahman Suhendri, a student of the Medical Education Study Program (PSPD) at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII), when giving his explanation when receiving the 2017 Merck Diabetes Award on Thursday, 01 Jumadil Awal 1439 H / 18 January 2018 at the FK UII Campus, Jalan Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman Yogyakarta

According to Rahman, the awards were given by companies that produce drugs, vaccines and health products for animals and this event was intended to build a platform for diabetes and hypertension experts around the world. This year's theme is “everyday is diabetes day”. This competition was attended by more than 500 participants from all universities in Asia and Africa. The winner of this competition was announced towards the end of 2017.

"Alhamdulillah, for the blessings of Allah, I am very grateful to be one of the recipients of this prestigious award. I hope this can be a motivation for myself to continue to improve my competence and can be an inspiration for my friends to always work and achieve," said Rahman.

Furthermore, the prizes that were obtained for the award recipients were the opportunity to study a post graduate diploma in diabetes management at the University of Southwales, United Kingdom through an online online system. Wibowo[:]
