Kaliurang (UII News) – The event which had the topic "Combating the outbreak of emerging and re-emerging infectious disease" was attended by more than 200 students from various countries discussing, debating and negotiating in order to produce a draft resolution that directly will be brought up by IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Student Association) as a proposed solution in the World health general assembly (WHO big meeting).

This was conveyed by Fiqki Rahmawati Fauziah (FK UII 2015) after participating in the 2017 Taiwan WHO simulation which was a simulation of the first World Health Organization (world health organization) meeting in Asia which was held at National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan from 18 – 22 Robiul End of 1438 H /17-21 January 2017.

According to Fiqki in the Taiwan WHO simulation, all participants played their respective roles and voiced opinions according to their roles so that in exploring this topic, delegates were asked to solve emerging disease problems around the world, for example in the European region the problem was focused on handling refugee health. and immigrants, then the African region re-evaluated the response system to the spread of infectious diseases, in the American region the discussion about Zika was the main focus, while in the western-pacific it discussed the best way to tackle mosquitos-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and malaria, and in the east region -mediterranean focus on negotiations between countries in cooperation to provide health facilities.

“But overall, the discussion on this topic is the prevention and management of infectious diseases, surveillance systems, training of health workers and building health facilities in countries that need them. The executive board meeting also discussed the distribution of the budget from WHO so that it can provide maximum response to outbreaks, "said Fiqki.

Fiqki further explained that from Indonesia itself, it sent 10 delegates where 9 of them were official delegates from ISMKI (Indonesian Medical Student Senate Association), from UII only sent one delegate from the Faculty of Medicine class of 2015, namely himself.

In the 2017 Taiwan WHO simulation, Fiqki was given the role of WHO official press of Europe or WHO's official press agency from Europe, in his role he was tasked with following the course of the discussion and uncovering facts and opinions of other countries/parties in the discussion, every day he was required to send press release and on the last day you have to interview several parties who have a big role in the discussion.

If you look at previous opportunities, Fiqki has also received an award in the form of the best diplomacy award at the London International Model United Nation event in 2016. This time he also received an award in the form of Best Press Delegate. In the assessment of the appointment of the best press delegate, it can be seen from the activeness of the role and mastery of the delegation's material in the discussion.

“I really enjoy my role as a press delegate, because I am active and play a role in participating in all discussions such as plenaries, all regional meetings, executive board meetings, and press conferences. In the discussion I also pointed out important points in the discussion and directed where the discussion would go, during this event I always exchanged thoughts and gained respect with people who were very influential in solving the problem of the topic, "he said when asked the reason for his victory. At the event, only 2 people won the best press delegate award.

When asked the secret of winning the competition he replied, “The key is to enjoy the race, don't be too ambitious but focus, don't regard other people as opponents but as friends, invite friends and cooperate from any country. And this time I always remind myself of one of my new life mottos, namely be elemental and prepared," said Fiqki while participating in the activity.
