Kaliurang (UII News) – UII Medical Students Participate Indonesian International Medical Olympiad (IMO) with six branches of this competition consisting of 4 national branches (Cardio-Respirology, Digestive, Musculoskeletal and Uro-Reproduction) and 2 international branches (Tropical Infection and Neuro-Psychiatry).

This was told by Shafarina Maulia, (2014) FK UII, after attending the delegation Indonesian International Medical Olympiad (IMO) took place at Pelita Harapan University (UPH), Karawaci, Tangerang, Jakarta on Sunday, 15 Muharram 1437 H / 16 October 2016.

According to Shafarina Maulia, the IMO activity which took place at the UPH Karawaci medical building aims to introduce and test students' knowledge about the ins and outs of each branch/field of medicine and spur all Indonesian students to be competitive.

"In this round, it is not only practice to solve cases and questions, but also how do we practice during praticums with the equipment available on campus to be more optimal in order to win," he said.

All FK UII delegates took part in the second preliminary round (Survival Stage) to survive and have a second chance to penetrate the semifinals. The full effort each delegator devotes to survival stages this doesn't seem to work. Thus, the delegators from each branch of FK UII have not been successful in this IMO 2016 competition.

“The first impression that comes to mind for those who participate in IMO for the first time is usually the serious competition and the intense atmosphere. And here we want to set the record straight statement That. There are many meanings of competing and fighting in IMO. For campuses with Islamic names like FK UII, this is a field of da'wah to show the good character of a Muslim. For individuals who take part in this competition, this is a step to improve ourselves, how far can we as prospective doctors master science and tests for us to cultivate our hearts so that we are not arrogant when we win and don't give up when we lose," said one delegator.

The response from other delegates was that this could be a stepping stone towards victory at IMO next year. With the statements of the delegators who are competing this year, to continue participating in the IMO event again in 2017 which will be located at the University of North Sumatra, it is certain that the delegators will be more mature in the next IMO. The most important thing is how the delegators can pass on their knowledge to the next successors who will participate in the IMO. Keep it up! Optima Est Victor. Wibowo[:]
