Comprehensive Station Development Workshop

Good clinical reasoning skills are needed by a doctor because these abilities must be possessed when dealing with patients, starting from history taking activities to the selection of therapy. However, the teaching of clinical reasoning skills is felt to be not optimal at FK UII. One of them is the teaching method at the clinical education stage, where the rotation of student clinical education is based on the department. Therefore, an innovation in clinical reasoning learning is needed at the clinical education stage by developing clinical reasoning learning through a comprehensive or integrated clinical teaching stage.

Wednesday, 22 February 2012, PHK PKPD UII, Program 4, held a workshop that discussed Comprehensive Stage Development at the clinical education stage. This workshop presents dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med., Sp.OG., Ph.D from the Faculty of Medicine UGM as the speaker. He delivered integrated learning in clinical education. In his material, Dr. Ova conveyed the importance of developing integrated or comprehensive learning at the clinical education stage. The integrated clinical learning design that is currently being developed is community-based learning.

Apart from dr. Ova Emilia, the workshop which was attended by clinical lecturers and clinical department staff, also presented dr. Ch. Hari Nawangsih Priharsanti, Sp. Rad (K)., Onk. Rad., from FK UNDIP, who shared experiences on how to implement a comprehensive station at UNDIP which has been carried out since 2004.

With the presence of these two speakers, it is hoped that they can help FK UII to develop concepts and implement comprehensive stages. Apart from that, it is also hoped that the methods of teaching students' clinical reasoning skills will improve, so as to improve the quality of doctors who graduate from Fk UII.
