KBK FKUII Evaluation Workshop

Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia has carried out the KBK FK UII 2005 Evaluation Workshop on Saturday, February 26 2011. The event started at 08.00, and was opened directly by the Deputy Dean dr. Kuntari Point, MPH and finished at 16.30. The KBK FK UII 2005 Evaluation Workshop started a series of activities related to the evaluation of the 2005 KBK.

The first material regarding the general description of curriculum evaluation was delivered by dr. Titi Savitri, M.Med. Ed, PhD from FK UGM who is an expert in the field of medical education with a major interest in curriculum. He explained that curriculum evaluation activities should be carried out simultaneously because it is part of the quality assurance of an educational institution. Evaluation activities of a curriculum can be carried out starting from the input, process and output aspects and even the outcomes and their impact on society. Macro evaluation of the curriculum is carried out after 1 cycle of education or after producing graduates but micro evaluation can be carried out at any time during the curriculum process.

In order to provide a real picture of a curriculum evaluation process, the second material is benchmarking to institutions that have carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the CBC. The Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, was the first medical faculty to implement CBC in accordance with KIPDI III and has evaluated and perfected the CBC it implemented. dr. Detty Iriyani, M.Kes, M.Pd.Ked as secretary of MEU FK Unand was presented as a speaker at the second session of the FK UII KBK Evaluation Workshop. He explained about the curriculum evaluation process that was carried out at FK Unand. Starting from the evaluation and minor improvements made during the ongoing curriculum process to the major evaluations and improvements that have just been carried out. The major evaluation of CBC at Unand Medical Faculty resulted in quite large changes, including a change in block order and an increase in the number of blocks with basic medical content in the first year. One good lesson that we can draw from Unand Faculty of Medicine is that the curriculum evaluation process has been well organized through regular meetings of the block team and related parties before and after the block runs as well as regular yearly evaluations.

In the third session, the participants who attended were divided into several groups to conduct FGDs regarding the drafting of curriculum evaluation at the meso level. Each group was accompanied by a facilitator who provided direction for the FGD activities. The output of this FGD activity will be a draft that can be used to evaluate the learning curriculum at FK UII at the mesocurriculum level.

In the last session, the results of the screening were presented to students regarding the learning process at FKUII. Student involvement in the process of evaluating a curriculum is important. So that the curriculum evaluation process can be carried out in a comprehensive manner, involving all parties involved during the process.

In the end, the committee said that this workshop was the beginning of the evaluation process. The workshop activities will be followed by a series of other activities related to the 2005 KBK FK UII evaluation process. The series of evaluation activities will be coordinated with the MEU curriculum sub-units. The evaluation results of the 2005 KBK FK UII will serve as a basis for the development of an improved KBK FK UII 2005.
