Medicine Holds Workshop on Experimental Animals (Mice and Mice)

Kaliurang (UII News – 21/11) – To hold mice or rats that will be treated (both administering drugs and taking blood) special methods are needed to make the treatment easier. Mice or rats naturally tend to bite if they get a little rough treatment.

This was conveyed by Dr.dr. Farida Juliantina Rachmawaty, M.Kes when explaining the holding of the Mice and Mice Trial Animal Workshop which was attended by UII Faculty of Medicine Lecturers, UII Faculty of Medicine Laboratory Assistants and lecturer assistants who took place in the integrated laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia, Jl. Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman Yogyakarta on Saturday, 21 November 2015 / 09 Shafar 1438 H.

Further explained by doctor Farida that Taking mice from the cage was done by holding the tail of the mice, handling mice was done by holding the skin on the nape and the tail.

  1. The position of the mouse's body is reversed so that the surface of the abdomen is facing us and then the tail is pinched between the ring finger and little finger of the left hand.
  2. Taking the first mouse, the tail is held up to the base of the tail. Then the palms grip through the back of the body with the index fingers and thumbs slowly placed on the left and right sides of the neck. The other hand helps by supporting it underneath, or the other hand can be used to inject

  1. The implementation of experimental animal handling is recommended in Biosafety Cabinet (BSC).
