Medicine (UII News) – In order to equip UII Medical students with the latest understanding and information about developments in the pathophysiology of heart failure, the latest diagnosis of heart failure, and the latest management of heart failure, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia organize Guest Lectures or guest lecturer lectures with the theme “Update on Heart Failure from Pathophysiology to Therapy".

This was conveyed by doctor Ninda Devita, as the Chairperson of the organizer "Update on Heart Failure from Pathophysiology to Therapy” which was held on Friday, 22 Say'aban 1438 H / 19 May 2017, 08.00 – 10.00, at GKU Prof. Dr. dr. Sardjito, MPH west wing I floor, UII Yogyakarta Integrated Campus. This activity was attended by 140 students of FK UII class of 2014, which were filled in by Prof. Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahmandari Malaysia from Cyberjaya University Of College Medical Science (CUCMS) Malaysia.

According to doctor Ninda, in this event the material discussed was about Heart Failure, because Heart Failure is a complex collection of symptoms where a patient must have the appearance of: Symptoms of heart failure (typical shortness of breath at rest or when doing activities accompanied/not tired ); signs of fluid retention (pulmonary congestion or ankle edema); There is objective evidence of disturbance of cardiac structure or function.

“Hypertension is the biggest cause in male and female patients. Myocardial infarction, diabetes, and valve disease are also risk factors for heart failure," he said.

Furthermore, doctor Ninda explained that moving on from the thoughts above, the Promotion and Cooperation Unit (UPKS) of FK UII organized this activity so that later a student of FK UII could manage heart failure patients holistically and comprehensively.
