Kaliurang (FK UII) – Body fitness is important in supporting human life. Likewise for the academic community of FK and UII as a whole. If leaders, lecturers, employees, and students have a healthy body, then the teaching and learning process will run well according to the objectives. Those are some of the reasons given by the Vice Dean of FK UII, dr. Syaefudin Ali Akhmat leading the group at the comparative study event for the Founding Team of the Sport Medicine Center FK UII which was held on 20 – 21 September 2016 at the Royal Sport Medicine Center (RSMC) RS. Royal Progress Jakarta and Indonesia Sports Medicine Center (ISMC).

On the first day of the comparative study, the UII FK team met directly with dr. Febry., Sp.OT as the Head of the Royal Sports Medicine Center Clinic, dr. Zaini K Saragih., Sp. KO, and RSMC staff.  The Wadek explained that UII through a team from the Faculty of Medicine had plans to establish a fitness center with several objectives, including for the academic community at UII to have good physical fitness and also to support university accreditation at the international level. "In addition to maintaining the health of the entire academic community, the existence of sports medicine will be one of the supports for university accreditation. For this reason, we were given the mandate to build it,” he explained.

further dr. Alfan Nur Asyhar as the team leader for the founding of the FK UII Sport Medicine Center who was part of the group added that the fitness center at UII will be different from the existing fitness centers in general. “We want our fitness center to be different from the existing fitness centers. What sets it apart is that our fitness center is medical-based. This does not yet exist in Yogyakarta and in Indonesia there are also only a few, one of which is the RSMC. For that we visit and consult here, "he said. The doctor who was once a PSSI U-19 National Team doctor also conveyed about the condition of human resources and infrastructure owned by FK UII and asked how a suitable sport medicine center model was established at UII.

Meanwhile dr. Febry and dr. Zaini from RMSC explained that sports medicine centers must be different because they are medical-based and serve people who have illnesses, are at risk of disease, injured athletes, athletes or general people who are healthy but want to maintain fitness or performance. Therefore RSMC has Sp.KO doctors who handle athlete injuries and fitness, the general public who have or are at risk of metabolic diseases, Diabetes, Obesity, etc., as well as for performance improvement. Apart from that, the RSMC also has a Sp.OT sub-specialist in Sports Medicine who treats injured people who, after being analyzed, must have surgery and medical rehabilitation.

Complementing the visit, the FK UII group was invited to tour the facilities at the RSMC from the check-in area with various equipment, rehab area, and fitness room.

Then on the 2nd day of the comparative study, the FK UII group visited the Indonesia Sport Medicine Center (ISMC) located at Gate 5 of the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium Jakarta and was immediately received by dr. Andi Kurniawan, Sp.KO as CEO of Indonesia Sports Medicine Center. From his explanation it can be concluded that medical-based fitness centers have bright prospects because apart from the benefits already being felt by the community, in Indonesia there are only a few sport medicine centers and that is only in Jakarta.

Furthermore, according to dr. Andi, who is also a medical doctor for the Satria Muda Basketball Club, should first make adjustments to the existing facilities and funds when establishing a sports medicine center. "It's better to build it immediately according to the existing facilities and funds, later with time it can be developed further. As for HR, later they can be trained with the existing modules," he explained and advised.

Like the first day, at the end of the visit the FK group was welcome to see and try ISMC's facilities and equipment, including fitness equipment such as modern treatmeals, balance equipment, leg strength measuring devices, abdominal muscle strengthening devices, chest muscles , various weight machines, running track, rehabilitation room, examination room, reception room, and many more.

After the visit to ISMC, the team immediately returned to Yogyakarta. It is hoped that with this comparative study, FK UII will have a clear picture of the appropriate sport medicine center model to be established at UII. (AK/Three)[:]
