FK UII Holds Clinical Education Pre-Workshop

Wednesday (19/1/2011) FK UII held a Clinical Education Pre-workshop, at Wisma Joglo, Seturan, Yogyakarta. The event was attended by clinical department lecturers in medical education study programs. The expert who delivered the material at the event was dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.,SpOG.,Ph.D, and dr. Umatul Khoiriyah M.Med Sc, Purpose  this activity is to evaluate the clinical education program that has been implemented and look for the appropriate clinical education evaluation format to apply. After attending this workshop, each clinical department is expected to be able to prepare a blueprint assessment.

druma, in the initial session of the workshop presented the results of an evaluation of the implementation of clinical education at FK UII. Prior to the workshop, FK UII conducted a survey of clinical supervisors (DPK) at network hospitals, FK UII educational staff and students pursuing clinical education. The results of the survey were then analyzed and compared with the accreditation forms for medical education programs. This is important for the process of evaluation, improvement and at the same time in preparation for the re-accreditation of the Medical Education Study Program which will be implemented in 2012.

Dr. Ova Emilia, in another session, said that assessment is very important for the implementation of education. Assessment is like a tool for diagnosing disease, the lower false-negative and false positive then the gauge is getting better. The measuring tools and assessment methods used must really be able to measure the competence of students. On that occasion, Dr. Ova also conveyed several assessment methods for clinical education, among others mini-CEX, Clinical Encounter Cards (CEC), Clinical Work Sampling (CWS), Blinded Patient Encounters (BPE), Direct Observation of Procedure Skills (DOPS), Case Based Discussion (CbD),  Multi Source Feedback (MSF), Long Case, OSLER, SOCA and SLSCE. It is necessary to scrutinize, select and apply the right assessment method, so that in the future FK UII can produce competent doctors.
