FK UII Holds Panel Discussion on Sports Health Block with National Practitioners, Trainers and Athletes

Kaliurang (UII News) – The culmination of the learning process of the FK UII sports health block as the block that was first implemented ended with a panel discussion entitled 'Management of health problems in supporting the performance of athletes based on sports medicine'.

This was conveyed by the Coordinator of the Sports Health Block who is also a doctor for the PSSI U-16 and U-19 national teams, dr. Alfan Nur Asyhar when holding a Panel Discussion Turning to Sports Health in the General Lecture Building (GKU) room, Prof. Sardjito, MD, Indonesian Islamic University (UII) Integrated Campus, Jalan Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman Yogyakarta on Monday, 05 October 2015 / 22 Dzulhijah 1436 H which was attended by lecturers supporting the Sports Health Block along with UII FK students and the general public.

"During 3 weeks of study, students have acquired basic sports medicine knowledge and skills regarding health and fitness management of healthy individuals and those with degenerative diseases (hypertension, DM, obesity, coronary heart disease, osteoporosis) through Exercise is Medicine and clinical sports nutrition,” said doctor Alfan.

In addition, the U-16 and U-19 national team doctors added that in the FK UII Sports Health Block, there are activities out door activities such as aerobic/cardio exercises and physical fitness/VO2 max tests which are carried out every Friday morning with the theme FRESH FRIDAY (HEALTHY AND FITNESS) which is attended by sports health block students, lecturers, and FK UII staff.

"In the panel discussion, our students provide insights about sports medicine related to sports achievements by presenting national level speakers including: dr. Ichwan Zein, Sp.KO (PSSI medical committee, ISMC Jakarta consultant or the first son of Prof. Mahfud MD, SH, SU), dr. Alfan Nur Asyhar (PSSI U16 and U19 national team doctor), Nadia Hanun Narruti (Sports Nutritionist/FIRST), Harun (therapist for the PSSI ASEAN GAMES national team 2014), Coach Seta Nurdiantara (Football Coach B License AFC), Nova Arianto (ex. Primavera/Barreti national team player – Italy),” he explained.

The event was also attended by students of the FIK Sports Coaching Study Program, UNY as a form of appreciation for the FK UII sports health block due to the complementary linkages between medicine and sports for the achievement of athlete championships.

"Our hope is that this knowledge can develop and be appliedapplicationright by students of FK UII and UII as educational institutions can have  Sports Medicine Center as a health and wellness management center for lecturers, employees, athletes as well as learning media/laboratory for UII students in general and FK UII in particular. When optimal health and fitness of lecturers and employees is achieved, maximum work productivity will also be achieved," said the hope and message to UII from the UII FK lecturer who is also a doctor for the PSSI U-16 and U-19 national teams, dr.
