FK UII Passes Initial Selection for PHK-PKPD Director General of Higher Education

In order to improve the quality of medical education in Indonesia, the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) has developed a Competition Grant Program to Improve the Quality of Medical Education (PHK-PKPD) with the support of a loan from the World Bank. PHK-PKPD is a medical education development grant in order to produce graduates who meet the desired competency standards for doctors, thus contributing to the improvement of health services in Indonesia. PHK-PKPD is carried out in stages consisting of the following 3 schemes:

  1. Scheme A: superior development grants for institutions that are already quite advanced and well established
  2. Scheme B: new or weak institutional quality improvement grants based on partnerships, and
  3. Scheme C: institutional strengthening grants that are ready to develop independently

Universities that have medical education study programs can submit proposals for one of the grants mentioned above according to the conditions of the institution. Based on the details of each scheme listed in the PHK-PKPD proposal preparation guide, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) is included in scheme C. The winner of this competition will be determined based on the results of a gradual assessment which includes the proposal evaluation stage and the field visit stage.

After carrying out the complete proposal evaluation process (desk evaluation) for Scheme C PHK-PKPD, the Director General of Higher Education  2010 fiscal year by the reviewer team of the Higher Education Council,  several proposals were declared eligible to be evaluated until the next stage of competition (site evaluation). Of the 23 tertiary institutions included in the C scheme, FK UII is one of the 12 tertiary institutions that passed the desk evaluation stage with the program title "Competency Strengthening Focused on Improving Clinical Skills through Learning Innovation and Increasing Student Learning Independence". FK UII passed the selection desk evaluation together with Hang Tuah University, Jenderal Soedirman University, Lampung University, Muhammadiyah Malang University, Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University, Makassar Indonesian Muslim University, Pelita Harapan University, Sriwijaya University, Syiah Kuala University, Trisakti University, and YARSI University.

The twelve tertiary institutions will advance to the next process, namely site evaluation which will be held from 14 June to 3 July 2010. Visitation (visit) of reviewers to FK UII will be held on 28-29 June 2010. Furthermore, based on the results of the site evaluation , 10 universities will be selected as grant recipients (grantees) PHK-PKPD scheme C.

We hope that FK UII will be included in the 10 tertiary institutions that receive PHK-PKPD scheme C grants, so that it can become a means of acceleration for FK UII to achieve quality goals, one of which is to produce competent medical graduates.
