FK UII Performs Social Service for Cold Lava Victims of Merapi

Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia on Saturday (26/3) carried out a Social Service to help residents affected by the cold lava disaster in Teplok and Nglewang Argomulyo Cangkringan Hamlets, Sleman.  The cold lava disaster after the eruption of Merapi which occurred on Tuesday (22/3) at 15.00 WIB has caused several houses and places of worship which are 15 to 300 meters from the upstream banks of the Opak river to be hit by material in the form of sand and stones. As a result for the time being the place of worship and residents' houses cannot be used as they should.

On this occasion, dr. Point Kuntari., MPH as the Deputy Dean of FKUII along with employee staff and student representatives went directly to the disaster site while handing over assistance in the form of carpentry tools such as sand carts, hoes, shovels, clothes and staples for the needs of residents who experienced the Merapi cold lava disaster.

Romdani, a Teplok resident, expressed his gratitude for the solidarity shown by FK-UII, Merapi volunteers, Argomulyo village government officials and members of the community because with good care and cooperation they have helped residents to recover from the calamity they experienced.

according to dr. Point Kuntari., MPH, social service activities such as handling the post-eruption cold lava disaster or other social activities that are really needed by the community, FK-UII is always ready to help because this is part of the practice of medical education that serves the community, especially in the field health.
