The Department of Histology and Biology FKUII develops teaching and research in the field of microanatomy. Teaching histology and biology is given to undergraduate medical students in an integrated manner using learning methods Problem-based learning. This method is achieved through the integration of learning objectives with various methods, namely lectures, practicum and tutorial discussions. Histology and biology lectures given by lecturers integrate lecture material with research results. Learning through practicum methods is facilitated by the availability of various complete facilities such as light microscopes, as well as various histological preparations which are very qualified in quality and quantity. The histology and biology departments have also developed an e-learning learning system for practicums in the form of virtual slides as well as quizzes.

The histology and biology department of FKUII also participates in the development of science by participating in various national and international scientific meetings in the fields of anatomy, histology, biology and molecular. To support research activities, the histology and biology department of FKUII has an optilab attached microscope for visual field imaging of research preparations. In addition, the software from optilab can also be used to quantify research results.

The histology and biology departments of FKUII also always support the faculty's work programs by participating in carrying out community service activities, Islamic da'wah and improving good governance by following up on the results of the Internal Quality Audit.
