Working in the Microbiology Laboratory requires caution

Kaliurang (UII News-12/06) – Care must be taken in working in the Microbiology Laboratory because working with microorganisms has the potential to cause infection. To ensure that the learning process can take place as expected, the existence of assistants must meet adequate standards of attitude, knowledge and skills. To fulfill this, the Microbiology Department held refreshments for assistants with the theme "Working Safely, Professionally and Skillfully"

This was conveyed by Dr. dr. Farida Juliantina Rachmawaty M.Kes, during an assistant refresher held on Friday-Saturday, 12-13 June 2015 / 25 – 26 Sya'ban 1436 H at the Integrated Laboratory Building, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Jl. Kaliurang Km.14,5 Sleman, Yogyakarta which was attended by all microbiology assistants.

According to the Head of the Department of Microbiology FK UII, he stated that one of the learning processes that took place at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Islam Indonesia (FK UII) is a practicum. In this learning process, assistants are still needed to support the learning process to take place properly and effectively.  

“Assistant are trained to have adequate attitudes, knowledge and skills in order to work safely, professionally and skillfully. The material provided includes practicum which is held from the initial semester to the final semester. With this refresher, it is hoped that the assistant will be able to guide his underclassmen well," said Doctor Farida.

    During the two days following the refresher, the assistants must take the pre-test before the participants receive the material and take the post-test after all the material has been delivered. Furthermore, conditioning is carried out so that participants can follow the material well. The presenters were delivered by Dr. dr. Farida Juliantina Rachmawaty M.Kes and dr. Dimas Satya Hendarta.
